Is there more than one God? Well...sort-of. In the Christian belief there is one God but with three distinct persons or entities. The Judeo-Christian view is that one God exists. However, in the first chapter of the Bible, a very interesting phrase was made by God. Genesis 1: 26, states, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness," This is interesting. In Judaism, there is no talk of three entities of God, and yet there it is - "Let us make man in our image," The Christian view is that there are three personalities of God: God The Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit. This is the Trinity. While this passage is compelling, it is not enough to conclude that the Trinity is being described. There must be more clarity..

As recorded in the book Epiphanies of God, the many prophesies and signs fulfilled by Jesus let us know that he is the Messiah and that God the Holy Spirit likely put it on the hearts of prophets and writers to predict such things. There is a prophecy - more of a proclamation really - of what the names of the Messiah would be. It was written By Isaiah 700 years before the time of Jesus. Isaiah 9: 6: "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." And there it is, from the Jewish prophet Isaiah, the description that a child would be born (the Messiah: Jesus), and not only is he the Prince of Peace, but he is the Everlasting Father, and he is the Mighty Counselor, the Holy Spirit. Jesus is all three. All three are all three. Though some fail to believe Jesus is deity, this passage clearly suggests he is.

Before he died, Jesus told the disciples, "But I tell you the truth: it is for your good that I am going away.   Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.” [John 16: 7]  After his death and resurrection, Jesus told the disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they received power by the Holy Spirit. [Acts 1: 4 - 8] The Mighty Counselor is the Holy Spirit. Isaiah is suggesting that Jesus is God the Father, and God the Holy Spirit.  They work together as one God.

The beginning of (our) time was the moment of God's Big Bang. God exists outside our spacetime dimension, thus he can see the future. He knew we would fall, and he knew he would come to Earth to suffer and die for us. When was the plan designed? In 2 Timothy 1: 8 -10, Paul is encouraging another key follower of Christ. Many early followers of Christ suffered greatly. "So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God, who has saved us and called us to a holy life - not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel." Before God even created us, his plan was in place. Heaven in a new spacetime dimension will blow our minds.

The concept of time is rather important in considering what God can do, which is one reason for devoting an entire chapter to it in the book. Near the end of his life, Jesus said a short prayer for himself before saying a prayer for the disciples. He finished that prayer with this: "And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began." [John 17: 5] (before time began)

At one point in the life of Moses, he asked God what his name was so Moses could tell the people. God said "I AM that I AM". [Exodus 3: 14] This is correct. He just is everywhere at any time. 1500 years later, Jesus was confronting some religious leaders who accused him of being demon-possessed. He said, "Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad." The leaders said, "You are not yet 50 years old...and you have seen Abraham! I tell you the truth,' Jesus answered, 'before Abraham was born, I AM!'" [John 8: 56 - 58] He was claiming to be God. They tried stoning him to death, but he snuck through the crowd.
